If you’re heading to Europe this summer, figuring out what to wear can feel surprisingly tricky. You want to be comfortable in the heat—but still look polished walking through Paris, Rome, or along the coast.

The good news? European summer style is actually very simple once you understand the formula: lightweight fabrics, feminine silhouettes, and elevated basics.

Here’s exactly what to pack—with a focus on easy shirts, flattering skirts and dresses, and comfortable (but current) shoes.

Lightweight Shirts That Look Put-Together

When it comes to tops, less is more. You don’t need a huge variety—just a few well-chosen pieces that mix and match effortlessly.

Best options to pack:

• A crisp white button-down (linen or cotton)

• A tank or two (in neutral colors, and maybe a bright option)

• A simple, structured t-shirt

• I always pack a neutral cardigan also. This is my absolute fav.

Comfortable Summer Style

People always say bring linen pants and dresses to Europe. And yes, if that is something that you wear regularly then bring them. If you don’t wear them, you will dread getting dressed each day. I would never suggest bringing something you don’t feel like yourself in. I have linked a few of my fav’s. I love a skirt and tank but for really busy days I really love bermuda shorts.

What to look for:

• Midi-length skirts and dresses (great for churches and modest settings)

• Flowy silhouettes that don’t cling (pockets are a major plus!)

Stick with these:

• White or neutral leather sneakers (Veja’s are incredibly comfortable)

• I also love a statement shoe, but I do find the New Balance 327 are the most comfy

• Comfortable strappy sandals

• Espadrilles for a slightly dressier option

You’ll likely rotate between just 2–3 pairs your entire trip.

Avoid:

• Bulky running shoes

• Flip-flops for full days of walking

Make sure you break your shoes in before the trip!
